@ Tourigjm,

My '06 Corolla XRS has a 1.8 liter 2zz-ge engine co-designed by Yamaha. This powerplant employs VVTi-L and metal matrix composite construction with a rather high 11.5:1 compression ratio to rev to 8,400 rpm and produce +175bhp at 7800 rpm.

It's bullet-proof reliability and class-leading power-to-weight ratio made it the logical choice for the US Lotus Elise: 190bhp, and Exige: 240bhp.

This engine really shines in the ~2000lbs Elise. The Corolla XRS weighs a bit more at 2670lbs. (Although I have been able to reduce mine to 2590 lbs- so far).

Unfortunately, the XRS 6spd gear ratios were chosen to keep this high-revving engine "on the boil." 60mph= ~2709rpm, 70mph= ~3161rpm.

btw- the Corolla XRS is fwd only.

I have had no luck finding a replacement 6th gear to fit the C64 transmission to lower the hwy revs. Any leads?

Over the life of the vehicle I have averaged 31.7mpg- (hi/lo 36.3mpg - 28.82mpg).

I just can't seem to reach 40mpg!
