aerohead,

I am one of those troops- and I am tired of deploying to "oil rich areas" in the name of "freedom."

This latest American vehicle is one of the many reasons why the "Detroit 3" are in such dire straights.

GM is proud that the Traverse's Cd is "only 0.33 – making it the sleekest crossover in the segment!" Source: GM - Fuel Economy - News - Advanced Engines - Form Enhances Function: Chevy Traverse's Wind-Cheating Design Helps It Deliver Expected Segment-Best Fuel Economy

If the Crossover segment is populated with vehicles with Cd's worse than 0.33- then I sincerely hope this segment will follow the SUV's into oblivion. America needs more energy-efficient vehicles. Detroit 3- wake up!

Since when is a Cd of 0.33 laudable? Even my one-box '05 Sienna minivan accomplishes a Cd of 0.30 (so does the Honda Odyssey, btw).

Plug in the Traverse's frontal area, weight, and Cd into ecomodder's online spreadsheet for an idea of how wasteful this vehicle is. winterblend fuel yields ~19mpg at 65 mph!

Come on GM (and Detroit 3), please do better.
