Paul, it helps to give yourself a little bit of a trace away from the SM component so you can heat the trace and allow the heat to spread to the component instead of actually touching it. That way, you don't move it with the soldering iron. I think the paste is not cheap, but it goes a LONG way (a tube lasts months here at the shop).

Oooh... I'm going to have a read of that when i get time, Reuben, thanks! I guess there is no reason not to integrate the drive and charging systems.
