If you want it brighter than the brightest stock setting, go into the code for the brightness settings list. Add a 255 to the end of the list, thatll give you the maximum brightness for the LCD. If thats too bright, change it to something in between 128 and 255. I had to add a 255 for the blue screen mpguino in my van. You can also remove settings from the list if you will not be using them.
As for the steering wheel controls pic, its a photochop. But it is something I considered doing and would have worked. It is a Gen 1 6000 STE button set, cut into 3 pieces, with a fiberglass surround. Then the wiring spliced onto the Gen 2 controls and radio. I would keep it Gen 1 except the Gen 1 radios only came in red backlight for Pontiac, Id prefer a radio in white backlight, probably from a Buick. I had all the parts and a spare APV steering wheel to make sure it would fit and work. I still might try it someday. I retrofitted stock STE controls in both my 6000 wagons.
