Best tape for attaching simple wheel skirts?

I might be going on a fairly long road trip this weekend. I would like to make some simple wheelskirts. Just a half-circle of coroplast, taped over the wheel well.

The question is what is the best type of tape to use? IMHO, Painters tape is too week, and I've used colored duct tape before but it leaves a residue on my car...

I haven't used regular silver duct tape on my car before, and I do have a roll of clear duct tape (which I am thinking might leave less residue?)...

What would you guys suggest? I don't have the time to build brackets or anything.
