Newbie from India
Hi Folks,
I am from India. Got exposed to hypermiling through a feature on CNN about it. So joined this forum around December last. Personal background - electrical engineer (electronics really) with 12 years experience, hardware/embedded s/w mix, skewed towards embedded s/w domain.
I own a Honda city (known as Honda Fit Aria elsewhere, a sedan version of Honda Jazz). It has an IDSI 1.5 L / 5 MT configuration. Used to give me ~35 before any hypermiling techniques were applied. In comparison, my last tank came in @45+ MPG.
One small thing is my EPA figures are made up, but are based on sound data available publicly. I even used the right formula to arrive at the EPA combined figure, with those two (city/highway) figures, as indicated on my fuel log figure.
Have started logging fuel use since started focusing on saving fuel. Good/bad thing (depending on how you see it) is I log only about 500 miles/mo, which means any feedback about improvement comes very slow.
Would like specific suggestions about techniques because I believe that brings out the maximum benefit with least efforts as far as hypermiling is concerned. Thats what took me from 35 to 45, and will take me further than that too. As a new year resolution, I want 500 miles out of my 9.25 gal tank, roughly 55 mpg. So help me God!
