Not sure about modern style serpentine belts. Haven't seen it / heard it, but I pretty much just work on my own stuff now-a-days. It was/is 100% possible with older style v-belts on 1950s - 1980s vintage vehicles. For v-belts that behaved that way, the working surface of the belt always had a hard, shiny surface when it slipped but made no noise.
