Started out as Robert Stuart. Then my friends shortened it to Bob. Then, I shared a house with Bob Stewart, and acquired three new syllables, while he became known as Barrister Bob. The 'phone was a minor amusement:
"Is Bob there?"
"Which one?"
pause - "Uh, Bob Steuart."
cheerfully - "Which one?"
"Um, m bawgh duh. . ."
"Bicycle Bob, or Barrister Bob?"
"Ahh, oh -_____________ thanks!"
The novelty had pretty well worn off when I went down to Bob's office, assuming that the receptionist there had gotten our usual treatment.
"Ahh, I'm here to see Bob Stewart"
"And who shall I say is calling?"
"Bob Stuart"
"No, Who's calling?"
"Bob Stuart"
"No, Who's Calling""
"Bob Stuart"
"NO!! WHO ARE YOU???!!"
"Oh, sorry. . . :-)
