Ha! Bicycling! magazine ran a cartoon of a guy sitting on the ground at a velodrome. One passer-by remarks to another "Yeah, it's really tragic. He spent all winter lightening his bike, and the wind blew it away."
On mine, I only put in seats I expect to use, or maybe one extra to save time. That saves pounds instead of ounces. I use noise-canceling, music-playing headphones instead of interior soundproofing - the Metro is a bit short on that stuff anyway.
If you don't have high humidity, just misting a bit of water into the ventilation blower can replace the air conditioner. In any climate, you can carry a cooler full of gel packs to put in vest pockets.
