I sugest your to use USART TxD and optocopler 4n35 for transfer data to PC COM port or throgth ft232rl to USB. This data you can grab to Excel or another graph software for real time debuging whole EV on driving and after that.

This data can be using by dashboard for speed, current, voltage monitoring.
For monitoring BAT charge level etc.

IMHO USART is very useness option.

In firmvare it is very simlple to use HW USART atmega8. Thay can transmitting data independantly of is interface cable (may by like that for GSM phone) attached or not.
