When I cut my springs I did them together to get them the same length (I used a grinder with a cut-off blade). Although I suppose you could match the pieces that came off to find the correct place to cut the other spring.
It is pretty dangerous to run a car with different spring heights like that, I really don't recommend it. I'm glad to hear you were OK.
This is excellent news, I can't wait to hear what your range is in the summer with a double battery pack. (Speaking of, what are your temps like over there?)
