I'm new to the forum and have read nearly every thing I can in two weeks
about EV and the Metro conversions. I'm extremely jazzed. I bought a forklift last Saturday.
I have some Motor questions and their must be some calculation spread sheets out there some where.
What I'm looking for is a EV motor calculator;
I have looked at the EV calculator at
EV Calculator and its great but it doesn't have an area for curb weight and an unbranded motor.
- Given the curb weight of a vehicle how many HP would be needed to move it to 45 MPH? in say 20 seconds?
- Given the HP needed what is the optimum voltage?
- Given the voltage and HP how many amps are required for 20 mile range?
For example I have a motor the name plate says 9.2 Kw 45 VDC. On a web conversion site it says the motor is 12.3 HP, but is that at 110VAC?
The forklift came with a GE EV-1 controller 36-84 V rated that some one is running at 96 VDC. The controller is capable of 600 Amps.
I guess what Im really asking is will the motors I have work well at 96 VDC with the EV-1
And at what curb weights so I have a choice of donor vehicles like Nissan Sentra, BMW or Metro.
I would really Like a Trooper or 86-7 Jeep Cherokee.
