I agree. At times I do an "ok flash" for when a truck or car is signaling to merge into the lane in front of me. My wife taught me that. Sometimes truckers will tap their brakes in thanks.
Even if there is a regulation on the books to turn on your lights, I doubt that this has promulgated to the masses.
