I found gear rations for the last-gen Fit: 2007 Honda Fit- Specifications - Honda - Press Releases - Selected Story

It looks like the Fit's gearing is taller than the Jazz, but the Fit has more power than the 88 PS Jazz.

I understand that Honda wants to make the fit seem sporty by giving it low gearing. There is a model of the Fit called "Sport." But, why does the Base model have the tall gearing too? I think Honda should differentiate the base and Sport with different gear ratios, and thus different acceleration/performance trade-offs.
