I just stuck with a regular muffler. It will decrease flow(increase backpressure) but thats what he ased about and it seems he might complain if I said I wasn't going to put a muffler(My car has a box that looks like a muffler with the pipe traveling straight through without opening).

If the project goes GDI it won't have a cat either. The FE losses when its not polluting(25:1 +) on the biggest parts of having to push through a cat unnecessarily will outweigh the 20-30 seconds leaving stop, signs red lights and getting up to speed(3 miles total city driving out of a 200 mile trip.)
