I can't believe it's been 20 days since the last fill-up. We stretched this tank to the limit - for the first time ever, the "Add Fuel" warning came up and the last pip started to flash. I only drove about 30km between 1 pip and flashing, and I still think I could have made it to 800km on this tank (another 10 miles or so).

One 'pip' showing when we fuelled up. Still getting the hang of filling up the Prius. Every pump I use seems to have a different level of finickiness. My lovely wife did point out to me before this fill-up that I have a natural tendency to insert the gas nozzle at an angle, so I made a conscious effort to insert it head-on this time. I still had to hold the handle around 2/3-3/4 otherwise it would shut off, but I got to 32-33L fairly smoothly.
I've read more about the gas tank that says that at one 'pip' there's as much as 3 gallons (12 L!) left in the tank. Hrm.
Most of this tank was spent driving from our house over to my parent's property near Owen Sound. Highways 10 and 89 in Ontario have quite a number of hills which gave my foot some good exercise.
On board computer's average economy for this tank was 5.1L/100km again. |
