Below freezing weather, idling to get the car warm enough to see out the windows, bad traffic, low tires, a flat in there somewhere I believe, plus lots of local driving while holiday shopping. I think the only thing that would make this tank worse is if I had punctured a hole in the tank.

The weather was pretty good this tank with only a couple days of driving home with the A/C on (33-35 mpg, bleh).

Traffic now sucks really bad with school back in session and lots of construction. My commute time is up by 10-20 minutes so I'm going to have to keep on top of tire pressure and making sure I'm out of the house early.

15 degree mornings, lots of crazy holiday traffic, snow, and construction. Plus my front driver side tire is low again (must be a slow leak).

This is usually the worst fill up of the year, judging from the history. I'll be taking the car in for a full tune-up soon, hopefully next month.

Looking at the commute data I put together, I need to start leaving earlier. Also the cold seems to kill mileage by up to 5-6 MPG for similar commute times (nearly 20 degree difference).

Starting to keep track of average air temp during commutes along with trip MPG and commute time/ duration. See what I can see in a few months.

And so begins the mornings @ 50F and below, heavy traffic because of increasing construction and school days, and evenings @ ~55F just to complicate matters.

Heavy traffic from school and construction in Jersey City is killing my local mileage. Traffic from backups because of construction and accidents is killing my highway mileage.

Maybe someday I'll actually have time to work on that grill block I've been waiting to finish since May. >:-(

Bleh. Traffic + A/C use = lower MPG. Mornings aren't so bad, but afternoons are killer.

In the morning there is very limited, if any, traffic and it's cooler out. In the afternoon there is always a lot of traffic and the car has been sitting in the sun all day besides being 95+ degrees right then.

I need a commute I can bike or, better yet, no commute at all.

I actually had to do a double take on this one. The exact same distance as the last tank? Crazy.

Anyway, the grill block, even the tape needs to go back on. Granted I can probably explain away the extra fuel consumption by the extra hour of sitting in traffic yesterday and the increase in traffic in general that has happened this tank. All tires are back up to ~50 psi since the front two tires were down to 35(D) and 45(P).

If not for tires + traffic, this could have been a better tank than the last one but I'll never know for sure.

Just tried to keep up with good practices since I haven't been able to rebuild the MPGuino yet.

Started work on the foam grill block this weekend just before filling up and removed the packing tape block to check fitting. Partial front undertray and coroplast lower block need to be done next time I have free time.

I blame getting stuck in the Parkway's shore traffic and several days in the high 90's (making me turn on the A/C).

2 more new tires, synthetic oil change, and a fuel system cleaning at 3/4 tank. The fuel system cleaning may have added to the MPG drain during the cleaning itself.
