So I can track post-hybrid battery replacement MPG
Build Thread:
Current Mods:
>Added rear underfloor panel to right of exhaust to close out small area and eliminate parachute bumper in that area
>Added 2 large longitudinal fins (80 mm tall) along edge of car trailing edge per aerodynamics paper, "Drag and lift reduction of a 3D bluff body using flaps". Fits within the seam between the rear hatch and the car body, bolting to pre-existing holes on car side
>Upper grill blocker using the pipe insulation foam method
>Front underfloor infill panels ahead of each front tire spoiler eliminating concavity, making it flush to the front tire spoilers
>Catalytic converter shield
>Front skid plate that eliminates factory splash shields and closes up engine bay opening in underfloor, smoothing out entire area.
Planned Mods:
>Additional rear underfloor panel to further close out parachute bumper and fill in where factory underfloor panel stops
>Separation edges along side of car trailing edge around rounded tail lights
>Flush hub caps. Intend to CAD and FDM print infills that 'pop' into existing wheels.
>Contemplating an underfloor panel located aft of the cat/exhaust shield, that's intent is slightly deflect airflow away from the drooping exhaust tube that squirrels under the fuel tank. This tube/pipe has airflow going above and below and is very clearly visible when you look underneath the car from the front or rear as it drops below the car floor. Would CAD a robust deflector to FDM print that bolts to the trailing edge of the cat shield.
