I have a little 95 civic dx hatchback with no power steering so I think I have a great base vehicle to start with.

Current Mods:
40 psi tires. Partially blocked front bumper. Removed a/c belt.

I started driving a lot slower and employed some basic hypermilling skills. I always shut the car off for stop lights and rarely ever idle the car.
Planned Mods:
vacuum gauge and tachometer are planned.
I would like to make the car as aerodynamic as possible. I may start with underbody tray or front bumper cover mods.
I just picked up the car and would like to keep it a long time so I plan to craft prototype body panels and improve the total car's cd over time by taking well thought out data to prove changes in shape were beneficial.
Other modifications I would like do do that are non-aero related are;
hot air intake
higher temp thermostat
block or oil pan heater
underdriven alternator
led lighting wherever i can prove it reduces power consumption
DC solar panel to reduce alternator use
