Unlike most Polos, the estate was based on the SEAT Cordoba, which had a larger engine bay, allowing factory installation of the excellent TDI engine. It comes with the 90bhp AHU engine, as found in later Golf Mk3 models, and very tall gear ratios ( 59mph@2000rpm) If that gearbox was installed my other car 16VT, it could achieve a theoretical 190MPH :-D
