this Isuzu is one of only 8,600 diesel troopers to come to the USA,
and is one of only one of 800 with a dealer up-grade engine with the GEN3 engine rods, indicated by a oil vaper tank behind the BAT to help with one of the engines issues, "running away if over filled with engine oil"
1986 8,400~ where sold 4.55 gears
1987 200~ where sold 4.11 gears
other than a gearing change, front grill change and how wide the axils are theres little different in the two years.
in general 86 was the last of the old style troopers,
87 was a OOD ball year,
and 88 is rather modern with a EFI gas engine,
compared to Early TBI 2.3L or carbed 1.9L gas 4sp models.
86/87 are the only turbo diesel years for Isuzu's in the USA, and also the only years the trooper got the diesel in the USA.

its Cinda hard to make a brick more aro LOL, so theres not to much that can be done.
do to gearing limits ive gone to 31" tires on alowy rims to get road rpms to 2,600 at 60.
stock in 84, 85, 86 was 225/75/15P on 15X6 rims
87 to 91 there was two sizes 235/75/15 and 31/10.50/15
in general these autos with a diesel are in no way meant to be ran over 60 mph there meant to be work horses at low speeds.
they can go faster...........err well as fast as 80hp will take a 2+ ton brick LOL

and do a O\D swap from a RARE Isuzu car that has a 20% O\D still hunting for that one......
the pups/troops that are diesel and 5sp are all 14.5%
