So we decided to put a 1 liter Geo Metro drivetrain in the trunk of a 1939 Studebaker. The car will be running in the coming weeks. The original was an efficiency champ of its day, with a low curb weight, overdrive, and a purpose-designed I6; it was advertised as averaging 28mpg in a much-advertised cross-country trip.
Build Thread:
Current Mods:
1.0 Suzuki 3cyl out of a 1991 Geo. 5 speed with stock 4.11 gears. Reproduced Geo K-member in the rear with full (front) suspension. Currently installing Geo steering and suspension in the front of the car. 10 gal. aluminum fuel cell. LOTS of fabrication. Will run Geo electrical harness and brainbox with MPGuino. Radiator in the back, will put in full grill block in the front. Stock Geo 13 inch tires and rims all around.
Planned Mods:
Will install wheel fairings over the rear fenders and possibly the front (narrower Geo suspension leaves plenty of room for clearance). Possible: header, dish hubcaps, belly plates (no more driveline!). Army green paint to make it stealthy. This one will make the boys at the Studebaker club meets cry.
