I have a 2006 Highlander Hybrid AWD and it is surprisingly fast! Toyota purposely tuned these vehicles to still be useful tow vehicles that were also capable of respectable economy. A V6 engine combined with electric motors front and back results in a vehicle that does zero to 60 in the low 7's while still getting mpg numbers in the mid to high twenties. If I baby the thing I break into the thirties.
Using one of these old hybrid SUV's would be a great way to mix economy with performance in a classic Franken-vehicle like this! Very cool build!
Regards,
Steve

Toyota coulda/shoulda built the Alessandro Volta. It had the same drivetrain with the V-6 in back.

The only part of this I have is the Lexus rear axle.

Sometimes I wonder why Toyota didn't even try to drop a Prius drivetrain into the MR2.

Back when the Toyota Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe were the same car under the skin, I always wished that they would drop the Prius drive into those. I could have gotten an earlier hybrid Pontiac fix before I even contemplated the current Firebrid project.

When i bought the mustang for 300 the suspension was already gone. I just used my torch to cut the frame off and gave it to my neighbor for scrap.
I haven't touched the Prius since my last post, but ill get back to it soon.

Considering those S10 EV prototypes from late-'90s which had the drivetrain from the Saturn EV1, and therefore were front-wheel drive, wouldn't the S10 frame which was already fitted to the Mustang be worth keeping?
