Wheels? Why would them be the culprit? Lack of the freewheeling ability of a conventional part-time 4WD setup increasing drag, and some unaerodynamic protrusions on the undercarriage, would make more sense...

Not sure you can't add what those things use for tires, also. Seen smoother 11 tooth rip blades in saws
