My wife she wasn't at the time. Bought a 96 camry in 2000 30000 on the clock. At 120000 k piece of junk these were all pizza delivery miles I did synthetic oil changes every 5000k. In one weeks time distributer went 400 the fuel pump went 150 OT was on it's 3rd set of cv boots. Oh then the oil pump went long story short. One year only set up old motor piggybacked with obd2. None available anywhere. Rebuilt her turned crank new pistons whole 9. Runs like a champ she's a couple owners later and at 220000 running but always crappy on gas. Oh yeah and a 2.2 auto. Man that car was an accident magnet also hit like 4-5 times.

These are amazing cars. Stone simple. Mine has 180k and it has needed nothing! Starts, drives so smooth. Tons of power. Got 37mpg on my last tank with an AUTOMATIC! My first Camry. I am a convert!

Funny my dad got 37mpg with his camry purely with driving habbit (EOC etc) with out a scangauge, but now he has a Ultra Gauge! His is also the 98 model, next newer body style which seems to be better areo. Anyway, why type of driving do you do? My dad was probably around 50/50 city/country with a little 60mph highway.

I'm starting to surface some type of issue with my corolla, winter seems to have broke it for mpg lol. High coasting rpm (after warm), heavy vibration at around 1000-1500rpm when it is below freezing. DFCO isn't working normally either according to the scangauge :-/. Cat inefficency code has poped up a couple of times after a steady 50-60mph part of road with no stops right when I leave off the gas for the corner...

TEMP, MAP, and TPS all seem to work like normal, so I'm thinking maybe the O2 sensor(s), #1 don't change much, normally reads 60-85 on the scangauge with a rare low number near 20. Engine has 244k on it, and according to my research, that is nearing it's end of life (225-300kish), normally burning a lot of oil comes at the end, haven't gotten that yet. Been keeping an eye out for a super cheap parts car with the same engine + manual trans, and lowish miles, but not many even have a manual .
