04 Ion Quad Coupe
 

We recently purchased a 04 Saturn ion Quad Coupe Redline, to replace our failing suv. I had originally wanted the normal qc ion but couldn't get it financed because of the mileage so we got the redline. The redline has a 2.0l supercharged engine. I plan on doing something with the rear bumper since I hear it is a sail. I just drove it to my in laws this weekend and only got 26.8. I need to change that, I was hoping to be right at 30 but then again I am throwing a lean code due to either a dirty maf or filter itself which will be taken car in the next day or so.

I used to have a 03 Ion (automatic) and it had an average of 24.0, and my best tank was 27.0.

Well hopefully I can get a little better than 27 heres what the car looks like.

That supercharger is going to kill your fuel economy. Looking at Fuelly, there are two 04 redlines, one is getting 19 MPG, the other 25.7.

Thanks for pointing that out but I don't know how much I can go off them. The one is looks to be running e85 which isn't available here and doesn't seem to get that good of mileage to begin with. The other hasn't entered a log for almost a year. I know the supercharger will hinder the mileage that's why I originally wanted one with out it. If I could make it to 30-35 het mileage ill be happy and I think that's possible with a few mods.

I already have a scan gauge II and ill be hooking up a boost gauge so I can watch that and stay out of it, most the time, it is a fun car. I plan a belly pan for the rear for sure and might do some thing for the front. The grill block becomes complicated as the opening is the only air coming in to cool it so ill have to watch that closely. Then for hwy trips out of town rear wheel skirts.

Hows the mileage so far? Not in the garage?

Best full tank was 27 90% freeway driving at 75-80 mph.

If you do an underbody, start with the front. My prototype was working great until I had to remove the center pieces, and then just having the rear portion worked like a parachute. The front is still on and seems to be helping. No empirical data, and EOCis giving such good results, I can't tell what is doing what right now.

I'm going to do a belly pan just need to find the material. Also a grill block, however the only grill to block is the lower one and I'm thinking that might get it to got so I need to play with that also.
