You may notice that very few high-performance vehicles make the list. The reason? Most supercars are preoccupied with downforce and therefore utilise large wings, spoilers and other aero elements to reduce lift at high speed. This, of course, results in more drag.

There's a few I was surprised to not see on the list which makes me wonder how well the author researched.

The number of Benzes on that list says something about how serious the company is about aero.

I'm not sure I can think of any currently produced cars with better Cd's - which ones are you thinking of?

The M-B B-class seems to be applying lessons learned from the Boxfish (actually called the Bionic) concept. Its Cd was the same as the XL1 at 0.19. Larger area of course, the XL1 being not only the shape but also the size of a large suppository.

Cd numbers are great....

Lets rank by CdA next time though, OK?

MetroMPG 04-17-2014 01:48 PM

No, no, no! Math is hard!

Says the writer himself, who ignores CdA to avoid "nosebleed-inducing mathematical calculations."

They don't pay him enough to multiply one number by YET ANOTHER number!

:)

I guess was thinking of cars with lower CdAs than these, but on second thought I suppose these do have quite low Cds. Kindof useless to list the top Cds though isn't it?

Heh. Use Excel. Copy, paste, and let the magic happen!

...yes, the "magic" of trained electrons at your (or MS's or NSA's) service!

Like I asked my kid "...but, what are you gonna DO when the batteries die in your calculator?" when he tried to argue against doing his "times" & "divides" homework exercises by hand--using HIS brain instead of a calcultor.
