1989 CRX HF Aero-Project

So..
I bought this car just for an Aero Project, for taking long road trips.

(Admin added: intro thread - http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...-hf-26912.html)

-1989 Honda CRX Hf

I have long been intrigued with aero-modding your car for MPG.

I have had lots of 88-91 Civics & Crxs, and I have always been amazed at the MPG and reliability of them to begin with.

My goal is pretty simple.. I want to see how many MPG I can get out of her.

Here is the Starting Pictures and I will keep you all posted as I proceed with my project.

Scored some HX wheels to use temporally, but I'm going to weigh them to see if they are actually lighter than the Hf Steel wheels or my friends Insight wheels & my old Vx wheels.

I didn't weigh them...
I just put them on there for now.

I am going to eventually be switching to 15 steel spare wheel rims with Skinny low resistance tires and Smooth wheel covers..

In other words, Honda thought it worthwhile to use lightweight rims on their fuel sipper, and racers now like to grab those rims.

Wheels have been discussed at length in these forums. My understanding is, for a given wheel radius, smaller rims and taller tires are a better combination, because rubber and air weigh less than metal, and that larger rims with skinnier tires have more mass further from the center, requiring more force to rotate it.

According to weight of 15" steel rims? - Honda Civic Forum, stock 15" Civic rims weigh eighteen pounds.
