I have been a member for awhile now but have sold the Jetta and now the only diesel I have left.

Won't crank or won't fire?

It’ll crank all day but it won’t start. Has 2 new batteries and all the wiring is HD.

Yes. It has manual over ride.

If it is warmer than +40f, it will start if it has compression and fuel. Suspect it aint getting injected fuel. No mention of use of starting fluid or running when started.

No starting fluid. That’s a dumb move anyway.
What does “running when started” mean? I thought I said it wasn’t running?

Throw a tow strap on the front and tow it for a quarter mile. Maybe something will catch.

So it's not an automatic manual? I don't know my TCI from my TCU. Can't you tow an automatic until the torque converter locks up about 40MPH?

IIRC I've only owned one automatic transmission. 1953 Ford Fairlane hardtop. In the 1960s. It was pretty sweet -- was totaled while it was parked in front of the house, by a drunken sailor on leave (and his girlfriend).
