1995 Toyota Camry 'guino

I just recieved my MPGuino(Yay!) in the mail and I'm trying to find out if I should go to the ECU or through the firewall into the engine compartment. Does anyone here know anyone who has had any success with going straight to the ECU with a 95 Camry? Also, I can't find any darn diagrams for my ECU that label the wires...

I had to do a blind install as well.

Here's what I did:

Power and ground I got from the stereo connector because it was easy. When I do a proper install I'll find power at the back of the cluster.

VCC drove me nuts. Although 'sig' was labelled at the back of the speedo, this wire didn't seem to work. I tried them all. In the end I learned that the cluster has to be connected for VCC to work.

Injector. Look under the hood for the correct injector wire colour. Plug into this wire at the ECU.

I would stay away from the ECU, Toyota is very particular about their ECUs, making it difficult to work with. Good luck finding a full wire map, for the same reasons.

Just splice into the sensor wires for best effect. A voltage divider might serve you well for this purpose.

Problem is, I don't really have the knowledge or the tools to cut through the firewall into the engine compartment, so I'll have to pay someone to do it for me and I really don't want to pay someone 150-200$ to hook this thing up. I wish I knew someone in SoCal I could go to that I know could help me and knew what they were doing. Looks like I'll never get this thing hooked up at this rate.

I could understand not wanting to make the connections, but going through the firewall is the easiest part. Just find a grommet, attach your wire to a coat hanger from the dry cleaners and stick it in until it hits the other side. I'm sure if you post pics and ask questions about each individual part there will be people here willing to talk you through it. It made be a long and arduous process, but it can be done.

That's something I would be willing to do, I just don't know where to even start, do I pull apart my dash? Is there somewhere else I can go through the firewall? I'm willing to learn I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

You shouldn't have to pull the dash off to do it. It will help if you have a friend assist. If one of you pushes the wire/hanger into one of the grommets and one of you grabs a flashlights and pokes their head under the steering wheel/footwell to look for the wire coming through, then pull it through as much as you need, it should be pretty easy without tearing anything apart.

The only rubber grommet I see is the one on the main wire harness and that's buried in the dash, I'll take a picture give me an hour or so.

Here are pics of the inside of my engine compartment. Yes that clear tubing is my vacuum line for my vacuum gauge, I need to buy some adapters to extend it another foot or 2 so I can hide it I just haven't gotten to Home Depo yet.

Some possible places to run the wire:

1. I can't tell what this line goes into, but it might work.
2. If that is your vacuum line, I am assuming it is going into the cabin, so you could just run it with the tube.
3. Do those wires run into the fender well? If so, you can run them to the open area where the door hinge is and then under the door threshold bumper.

1. Same as #3 above, may be able to run through the fender well.
2. Could use the main wire harness grommet, but I would try the other options first.
3. That looks like a perfectly usable grommet. I'm guessing it goes straight into the cabin right around the back of the stereo area.
