1997 Toyota Previa ?

the EPA estimates for this vehicle arent very promising (16c/20h) which is actually less than the EPA rating for my ranger.
anyways, I was hoping someone had some real world data for me as there is a possibility of my picking one up in a trade for my truck.

this is the vehicle in question:

RUN !

There are a couple of Previa owners here. The mileage from those reporting seems to be pretty darn good.

Orange4boy ecomodded the cr*p out of his Previa, locked up the TC, added a Kammback, then a boattail.

If you can find one with a manual, then you could do at least as good as he did (75% over EPA).

thanks for the links
took some time going over them.
orange4boys' previa mods sounds like they worked out for the better, but is a little more than I am going to be able to do.
basically probably stay with a air damn, and small kamm to help separate airflow cleaner in the rear.
giving it some serious thoughts, at the moment its sort of a tossup between the previa or a civic sedan.
pros of the previa: a TON more room.
pros for the civic: cant argue with double the mpg over the previa, without any mods at all.

it looks like the Previa is out.

someone contacted me to trade their 2001 Xterra for my truck.
the Xterra has the 3.3L v6 (unfortunate....) but on the flipside, its a 5 spd MTX ! (I can see some major hypermiling in my near future.

so if the trade goes through, my plans are roughly the same for the Xterra as I had planned for my ranger.
full bellypan, smooth out the front end as much as possible, along with a lower airdam, Im going to look into possibly dropping it several inches (sits 6+ inches higher than it actually needs to for a 2wd...) some tall, skinny LRR tires.

if Im lucky (very lucky I think) I "might" be able to get upwards to 25-28mpg. but I think most of that will come from hypermiling than anything.

update
got the Xterra as it was a really good trade (value wise...)
but I have to say...
uhg, the tera is a freakin box on wheels....
Im barely managing to achieve better mpg than my ranger, but only because of some major hypermiling.
thankfully, the tera is a manual, so I can coast a lot and its so much easier to control my acceleration.
