1999 Honda Civic HX acquired
I just bought 1999 Honda Civic HX 5MT last Saturday on July 10th, in excellent condition, Firestone inspected with all thumbs up. GREAT gas saver, I'm sure y'all already know.
It got wing added on by 1st owner and I am leaning more towards removing the wing. Deep down inside of me, I want to remove it because it eats gas, I wanted to make whether a wing on my car will help or not. So far I got many nays and ONE suggested that I keep it on. What do you suggest? |
Here are the images of my Civic HX, entitled "HypermilerX":

I currently can do 34-36 mpg on this Camry, did 40 MPG thrice. http://hizost.com/f/zcp http://hizost.com/f/zez http://hizost.com/f/zcs http://hizost.com/f/zea http://hizost.com/f/ze0 http://hizost.com/f/zed http://hizost.com/f/ze9 http://hizost.com/f/zeb http://hizost.com/f/ze4 http://hizost.com/f/ze3 |
Looks nice and clean, good find!

Find a high-resolution photo of your car in profile, preferably taken from far away with lots of optical zoom, and overlay the streamlining template on it in PhotoShop. If the spoiler lies within the ideal teardrop shape, keep it. If it's too high, kill it. http://ecomodder.com/forum/member-cf...emplate-01.jpg Speaking of science, I have a request for data. You have lean burn, and a stick. Below a certain impg, you'll fall out of lean burn. How many mpg is that in 5th gear, and what's the fastest speed you can cruise on a flat road in LB? This X-gauge will help: Code:

I do not have Scangague II, but use mpguino on my Camry. Heard that Scangague II isn't accurate on leanburn Civic HX. I will take more pictures of that wing and post as soon as I can. Right now I'm at work.

MPGuino is fine, once you get around to installing it. If LB works as it does in the VX and Insight engines, you'll see fuel injector pulsewidth rise suddenly as you fall out of lean burn, and I'd like to know how many mpg and mph that is. FWIW, it's 75mpg and 60-something mph in a stock Insight. I'm hoping your more powerful and less emissions-tight HX engine can do 50mpg or less before dropping out of its super-thrifty mode.

Which do you recommend that I buy, Scangague II with X-gauge or MPGuino? Or is there something else? |
Guino counts the injector open time and derives fuel consumption from that. It is accurate in lean burn AFAIK.
