Very interesting! My son needs a replacement for his scooter...

Hersbird 07-24-2018 01:56 PM

72volt 32ah battery is worth over 1/2 the total price. They need a trail version.

Nice! Not sure I like the style, but guess I shouldn't complain for that price.

Only 30 amp hours? My car battery holds more than that! Not that it's deep cycle or anything, but still. Also, I wish they would have the frame more open, don't be ashamed to show off the battery or motor! Covering it up makes it look like a toy.

30Ah in a 72v battery is a lot more than 30Ah in a 12v that is rated at a 1/20 C rate.

Seconded on wanting a trail model.

Looks very much like the electric msx 125 (homda grom) chinese clone.

The ones over here have lead acid batteries though.

Shows how much I know about electricity!

30Ah at 72v is exactly 6 times the energy of 30Ah at 12v. Many normal 12v lead acid deep cycle batteries are rated at 100Ah, but that's misleading when compared to a Li-ion 72v battery. For one, you can't use all of that 100Ah on the lead acid or it will only last a few cycles, so more realistically you have about 50Ah if you want it to last say 300 cycles. The Li-ion is probably good for 3000 cycles using all of that 30Ah. Also the lead acid is only rated that high if it is drained slowly over 20 hours, or 5 amps an hour. Drain it at the rate of an electric motorcycle and that 100Ah becomes 60Ah, then take 1/2 of that which means you really only have 30Ah but at 12v. So that battery costs about $100 and is 1/6th the usable energy and 1/10the the usable life of the battery in this scooter. That's why the battery alone is probably $1000.

Silent motorcycles, what could possibly go wrong?

They've been advertising new ones for the past few months over here. With the same claimed 70+ km/h top speed and 8 kW motors.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was based on a Chinese clone with upgraded battery packs.

Or likely just a completely repackaged clone.

Oh... article says it's built by Zongshen. So the latter.

teoman 09-24-2018 04:57 PM

You have a link?

They cost like 1000 usd over here with lead acid. So they could have 1000 usd worth of lithium ion batteries.

I would love to buy one real cheap second hand with a dead battery and make my own lithium ion replacement that i can also transport to the car when needed to make it run alternatorless.

Loud Pipes Lose Rights

If people were really buying pipes for safety they would face them forward.
