30Ah at 72v is exactly 6 times the energy of 30Ah at 12v. Many normal 12v lead acid deep cycle batteries are rated at 100Ah, but that's misleading when compared to a Li-ion 72v battery. For one, you can't use all of that 100Ah on the lead acid or it will only last a few cycles, so more realistically you have about 50Ah if you want it to last say 300 cycles. The Li-ion is probably good for 3000 cycles using all of that 30Ah. Also the lead acid is only rated that high if it is drained slowly over 20 hours, or 5 amps an hour. Drain it at the rate of an electric motorcycle and that 100Ah becomes 60Ah, then take 1/2 of that which means you really only have 30Ah but at 12v. So that battery costs about $100 and is 1/6th the usable energy and 1/10the the usable life of the battery in this scooter. That's why the battery alone is probably $1000.
