2000 stang aero mod ?
I am thinking about changing my 2000 mustang coupe into a fast back, what do you guys think?http://www.arizenracingsports.com/im...00Mustang2.jpg from this

I don't think you will get much benefit, considering how shallow the rear window already is. It will just be a lot of effort to create an ugly vehicle.
How about getting rid of those fake air intakes on the sides and removing the spoiler? |
stang
your rear spoiler is already compensating for the roofline.I agree with wink, that you'll gain very little for all the trouble.
If you're very curious, create a one-shot mockup of the fastback out of cardboard and tape and test to see if theirs a significant difference. |
Do it nice and it'll look cool

My advice would be to work on the underside. A good undertray will give you FAR more benefits than a fastback mod would, especially with your already smooth rear window.
One way you can improve topside aero is remove the spoiler and install the fin-shaped radio antenna you see on BMWs and such, which doubles as a vortex generator. That spoiler's design will give rear downforce unlike the strictly cosmetic ones, so removing it will make the rear end feel loose on the freeway. You'll need to weigh the pros and cons on that for yourself. Also, seeing how aftermarket Mustang parts are so common, go with a set of lowering springs. |

I am going to lower it tomorrow or so. I've been toying around with the underside, but just can't make up my mind on what materials to use, coroplast or plastic or 20 gauge aluminum. The reason I was thinking about doing a fast back conversion is to get closer to 13deg angle and they never made fast back so it'd be different for sure. |
Lowering is a drastic step for aerodynamics. You're hugely limiting slopes you can drive up, increasing chance of hitting the underside on speed bumps, objects, etc.
What about an air dam? |

bringing the roofline out even with the bumper, sorta a Daytona coupe effect. Visually the idea is a winner ! Good luck whatever you do. |
