Hello everyone!

Never knew this place existed till I started talking to the one and only BamZipPow on TacomaWorld. Well his build sparked my attention as I need my truck being a wildlife guy but wanted to get the most mpgs I could. I already drive like an ecomodder (other sites I would use granny) and drive 70 on a 250 mile trip I do twice a month (heard I should go down to 65).

I have a 3 inch lift (I know...) but need it when going off road.

My goal of this is to be able to do some mods that will get me the best of both worlds... better mpg but being able to go offroad.

List of what I want to do to squeeze a little bit of mpg out
  • Belly pan
    partial grill block
Removable Kammback / the things semis have on the back
    Wheel spats

Here is what I have

I just recently did a front end conversion so that is why it's unfinished

Here is the back

And side

I do have a motorcycle (2005 ninja 500) that is my daily driver so that is how I save gas from using my truck.

Hope to learn a lot and meet a lot!

Here is something that I came up with as a quick design. Would something like this work like a semi?

Can I make it smaller too? This seems really big

Welcome to the forums! :D

I wonder how many of TW will follow you over here? ;)

Here's the template that I'm using on yer truck. ;)

Aerodynamic Streamlining Template

Here's what the template looks like applied to yer current camper top:

Here's what an aero cap would look like on yer truck (look familiar?):

If you apply a Kammback to the camper top, you might see up to the 10% of the template. If you build yer own aero cap, you can see probably up to 35-40% of the template. ;)

Thanks! I didn't even know that template was on here. That does look familiar ;) That is very helpful. I will have to explore this site a little more.

Hi,

If you need it for offroading purposes on a regular basis, then you're one of the few people who actually does need his 4x4.

Since that 3" lift is an off-roading necessity, you could get some aero back with the addition of an air dam up front. To help it survive trail bashes, make it from something that will give under impact, like baler belting. Add "springs" to its back side, also made from belting, to help it keep its shape at speed so it doesn't flop back and lose its effectiveness.
