[IMG]2001 Honda Insight
VIN: JHM7F137X1TQ00075 The low price is due to it needing a head gasket. Right now the car is sitting but does start right up and maintains an idle however exhaust gas leaks to the radiator so I stopped using it. I bought the car with 117K miles over a year ago. It has a clean title in my name. The digital gauge cluster went bad and I risked driving it to the dealership to be diagnosed and on the way back the serpentine belt snapped and the car started to overheat. Then the exhaust leak problem happened. I replaced the cluster with an Ebay one and now it will show 200K miles that the donor car had. Will also need an AC compressor clutch because the one on it seized. That's what caused the belt to eventually tear. I bypassed it with an e36 bmw serpentine belt. The previous owner painted it gray, original color is silver and bypassed and removed the old battery using an Uno.[/IMG] https://www.facebook.com/groups/G1In...55672227872980 https://ecomodder.com/forum/attachme...1&d=1572239575 I know that not everyone is cool enough for Facebook, so I downloaded the pictures one-by-one and then uploaded them here [one-by-one]. He posted the pictures in a logical order, but whatever Facebook's file naming scheme wasn't in alphanumerical order. I put the first three pictures in order, but just uploaded the rest in the order they showed up. |
900 for a dead one is way too much IMO
My son can't even get two grand for his Insight with everything functioning. |
I don't suppose that is in the greater metropolitan Show Low area, is it? :)
I do not suppose that I have time to drive cross-country in a tiny car, either. What if I fly out Friday afternoon and drive to Alexandria, Louisiana, park my car at in long-term airport parking, fly back, fly back to Alexandria the next Friday, and drive from there to Arizona that weekend? :D Since I live three and a half hours from Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix, plus you are supposed to report two hours early, and having long and hard weekends is a poor way to prepare for my eleven-hour-workday on Monday... Maybe not. :) |
If they want $900 for "a car with a blown head gasket" I guarantee it has other problems.
Why did the head gasket blow? The head gasket likely failed due to over heating. Why did it over heat? A failed thermostat, broken fan or a coolant leak. Most common cause for low coolant and over heating is negligent and/or ignorance. Most common cause for a blown cylinder head is it was ran with low coolant. If it was ran with low coolant it probably has a cracked or warped cylinder head. Why was it low on coolant? Most likely cause it has a leaking radiator or coolant pump. How long was it leaking? If it was leaking for months then some genius was probably filling it up with tap water so the engine, head and radiator are full of scale. I say there is almost 0 chance just replacing the head gasket fixes it. Now I play with ice vehicles as a hobby and don't have to keep them running. |

is this car still available?
|
That is a piece of crap. Paintjob, damaged panels, janky BMW belt where it shouldn't be, frozen A/C compressor, bypassed dead IMA battery, crappy eBay cluster that only partly works, damaged rims, missing emblems, and head gasket failure. TOTAL POS at any price above free.

Hmmm decal on the back says it was registered in CALI. probably a commuter, high mileage worn interior wont pass CALI smog because of check engine light.
If you need a restoration project, go for it. |
193,000 miles is high for a 20-year-old car?
I already have too many cars and projects! |
