40+ mpg 2015 Ford Mustang SVO

Fantastic! Thats solid thinkin on fords part.
It should power just under 280 hp mark and have stick shift 6 spd.
I have an 84 and 86 svo and need a donor engine.
Bring on the new SVO I am a fan B4 it is even built.
I hope they make it the mustang Flagship again. just dont make it so much more expensive than the V8 this time around.

Doesn't say 40 mpg. While it's definitely possible to get 40 mpg out of the Ecoboost four-banger motor, there's little chance of that being the official EPA highway figure for the Mustang...

Jakins 02-06-2014 06:40 AM

Yah I imagine the epa being near that but not quite 40. The new chassis looks alot more aero dynamic then the previous few chassis. If they put that in a smaller rwd car that would be hardcore. Makes me mad that I have around 300 hp and only get 15 mpg on a good day. Fml.

Oh gawd, I may be one of those a holes driving a mustang in a few years.

So far Im hearing the boat tail like rear end where the center pokes out more than the edges isnt cool with a lot of people. THey rather the rear be flat like that of the charger, challenger and previous mustangs.

Dealers are saying it will be over 300 HP. Allegedly, 315 is the expected amount. None of the Ford dealerships I have spoken to know anything about fuel economy, let alone 40+ MPG claims.

The @Ford magazine (internal Ford publication) does not mention it either.

"The Mustang EcoBoost engine uses direct injection, variable cam timing and turbocharging to deliver plenty of performance and projected segment-leading fuel economy. A unique intake manifold and turbocharger housing enable it to deliver the performance Mustang drivers expect with output projected at more than 305 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft of torque." @Ford, December, Page 13.

Keep in mind, Top Gear should be using imperial gallons, too. Will check the Mustang forum I use if there is any more recent, or more detailed word.

nice shots

I really hope they make a distinct appearance though that 5.0 is hot!

Jakins 02-07-2014 10:44 AM

It DOES look like am accord! I saw that all of the manufacturers are doing turbo 4 ' s in their big muscle cars

Some interesting (at least to me) things are that the new 3rd brake light is above the rear window, the reverse lights appear to actually under the license plate, and the appearance difference between the GT and base are more subtle. From what is shown, which allegedly are still "prototypes," the GT has two bars on the upper grille while the base is plain, the GT has the 5.0 on the sides, and the GT has a GT badge at the rear, while the base just has the pony.

Allegedly there is a Lincoln version in the works. Now that, would really spark my interest. Lincoln likes to do these promotions and incentives, and depending on the price, it might be worth while. Specifically because a base model Lincoln will often cost more, but the standard options on a Lincoln are better than getting a Ford equivalent with the same options.
