96 Buick lesabre

So I'm trying to get the best possible fuel mileage out of my 3800 powered 96 lesabre currently I'm thinking about newer injectors with more and smaller holes. One of my problems is that it is a 96 and no one tunes 96s because it's not covered by up tuners but I might be able to swap in a newer computer and have that programmed for better mpgs but I'm not sure that it will work with the cars security system and the older style transmission the car has. Any help I can get would be much appreciated

I don't think there is much to gain by messing with the fuel delivery system. Sometimes you can make it worse. Not enough to warrant the complexity and possible expense. Most people look at this part after they have done everything else like aero belly pans, grill blocking, wheel discs, weight reduction etc

What else have you done so far?

Well so far my mods include llr tires at 51psi, lawn edging air dam, lower grill block, passenger mirror delete, ac & ps delete, led taillights, cat delete and a massive k&n filter

I need to find a good way to attach pizza pans to my aluminum rims and do a belly pan plus I'm going to replace the intake manifold gaskets and clean everything including the egr while I'm at it.

Last time I was on HPTuners website I thought i saw that they were looking to expand the supported car list. I think it said something about free credits to tune the car if you scan it and send it in to them so they can do the work so you can tune it. 96 should be OBDII so you at least have plug and play instruments available like a scangauge or ultragauge. If you already have HPTuners I think tuning could be a fun project, but I'm not sure it's going to save you $500 to pay for the purchase of the program...

I might get hp tuners one of these years I would like to do it myself and fine tune it for the best possible fuel mileage and I've been wanting to set it up with a small turbo maybe off a dsm I want to build 1-2 psi at 1650 rpm because that's what it runs at 60

I'm trying to grasp what the benefit of slight boost at steady cruise will be.

It would make the engine more efficient by using air to help shove the pistons down instead of using the pistons to pull the air in. Plus it would warm the air and effectively up the compression ratio by upping cylinder pressures

I'm trying to reduce the load on the engine so far I have replaced the ac with a delete pulley and removed the power steering. I have also replaced 108 watts of incandescent taillights with 8 watts of leds and removed the running lights from the trunk lid that's another 16 watts. I still have to replace a few more and upgrade the headlights so I can get rid of my 200 watt fog lights. As far as aerodynamics I've added a lawn edging air dam, taped over the lower grill, removed passenger mirror and filled the gap between the headlights and the indicator lamp with calking. The motor and transmission just died so I replaced them from a car my uncle had laying around but the car hasn't ran for over 2 years. It seems to run really good but it dies if it goes into idle. I'm not sure what my next project will be but I'm thinking belly pan

The last couple of tanks have been less than impressive. At first I thought it might just be because of the cold winter but I hooked a obd 2 scanner up and it showed that the maf and 02 sensor aren't working. I ordered new ones from rock auto for $110 vs AutoZone at 200. They should be here next week so no driving till then but I'm expecting a decent improvement in economy.
Btw how do I upload pics? All I have now is a smarty phone and when I try to upload it says the pic is too large
