96% US cars with Black Box ?
The local traffic safety organisation claims that in the US, 96% of vehicles are equipped with a black box recording driving behaviour.
Is there any truth at all to this claim ? I have a hard time believing it, seeing that Americans are even more allergic to this kind of nannying than Europeans ;) |
Should have just googled it
The Nanny is mandatory since 2014 Your car's hidden 'black box' and how to keep it private |
It would make sense if there was a discount in the price of insurance policies.

Looks like the geo metro and Saturns we run have black boxes but the pre-2003 corollas/prizm and pre 2012 hondas do not. |
thats surprising about the hondas.

The NHTSA mandated Event Data Recorder (EDR), a little "black box" in just about every vehicle that records the last couple minutes prior to an "event"...i.e.: a crash!.
