Best 4 door car under 6k?

My friend is looking for a car and wants me to help him find the best/most fuel efficient vehicle for his family with a budget of 6k. So far this is what I've come up with in order based on fuel economy reports. Any other thoughts are welcome appreciated.

That was my first thought too. I like their cars, but I'd be scared to own or recommend one to a friend.

I was thinking 2003-2004 is kind of the sweet spot in their price range. Anything to watch out for on those years?
