Adding 14 extra axles to my CRX
I was at Discount Tire with friend,getting a new set of tires for her Toyota pickup.
A 'lady' came in,she was replacing the set of tires on her new Camaro which had worn out in 10,000 miles. The good news for her,it would only cost her $1,300 rather than $3,000,which had recently been the asking price for those tires. Doing the quick math in my head,revealed that within the time it would take me to wear out a single set of Michelin MXV4 Green Radials on my CRX,the Camaro will go through 8-sets of tires,at $1,300 each,or $10,000 for a 'set' of tires. Not to be over-'manned',I have resolved to install 14 extra axles on my CRX,run all 32 tires without any air and see if I can match the 'performance' of the bright,shiny new muscle-car. This 'lady' is obviously more intelligent than I,she must bring home an enormous paycheck each month,and desirous of wanting to do the intelligent thing,I can think of nothing better for which to stimulate the sagging economy and prove my un-demonstrated manhood. |
...women will do that to you!
...woman = woe & man |
Thats a lot of wheel skirts to fab up!

a honda mobile home...
or maybe a honda 8x8, play in the mud. Camaros can't do that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi8SlYGt0YM |
I don't think it will work out as planned. But what do I know?

What tires cost $1300 each on a street car? TireRack.com says the OEM tires cost $844 for a set, excluding mounting and balancing. Hell, my Supra's tires run about $860 for a set. Seriously, I'd like to know what tires are costing that much. Did that price include new rims as well?
Looking at DiscountTireDirect's website if the lady had 21" rims she could spend $500 per tire, but that's just absurd. |

10k miles sounds about right for rear tires on a RWD sports car that's used to it's full potential. IDK what tires that lady was using, but my tires have a 280 treadware rating and they last me about 10k miles for the rear and 15k for the front since I like the occassional burn-out and tend to spin my tires when I take off or get up to speed (I've been known to get on the freeway going sideways at 70 MPH). |
