Airstream loses rooftop graveyard
They must have heard me cussing from years ago, and finally did away with the rooftop graveyard, aerodynamic abomination.
They've also made it a BEV powered traction drive trailer, with stand alone , campsite power capability.
Happy to see it. https://www.gearpatrol.com/cars/a388...mping-trailer/

Ok that's dumb. Having a battery big enough to move a camper down the highway sitting and wasting away at least 11 months a year for most people.

That’s going to be very expensive.
However, if you could plug it into your home during those times between vacations it might make it somewhat reasonable. Maybe use solar to charge the battery pack or take advantage of off peak rates. Sorta like a Tesla power wall.
Anyway I found a few more videos.

Yes, or found for rent or lease, at the edge of town, and shared with as many families as can be had, rotating holiday travel year round.
Not stopping to refuel en route to a destination has its pluses.
Driving at normal speed up any mountain grade has its pluses.
Regening on mountain downslopes en route.
Recharge at the campsite, and drive home non-stop if you like.
Power outage during a storm and someone's got a 'Powerwall.'

The eStream can also drive itself in low-speed situations. This feature lets you direct the trailer remotely via smartphone in complex, low-speed maneuvers like hitching and unhitching, reversing into a parking spot or maneuvering around a campsite. That feature alleviates much of the stress of owning and operating a camping trailer.

Ignore my response in the other thread.

If I had a setup like that on a trailer, I would be quite tempted to live year-round on it.

Mine has a cylindrical fan housing about 2ft tall that blows directly into a 14" square MIEV 11 air filter in the roof vent. Mostly for wildfire season in the Summer.
My current plan is to raise it up another 3 ½" on a 65" wide frame. The roof vent spacing works out for four solar panels grouped one and three. With appropriate flapper valves, one mode would blow air underneath for air cooling for the best performance you can get with panels laid flat.
For the microgrid, I'd thought the $1800 Ecoflow Delta, but reviews suggest it's more for tailgate parties than daily charge/discharge. So now I'm 'lurking' about a $600 controller and I don't know what batteries. 48v Solar Power System for Beginners: Lower Cost and More Power!. (recommend Will Prowse's channel in general)
So long as it's up on blocks, I could have wrought-iron Victorian finials.
