Audi A2 3L aeromodded for max FE

Hi,

I have put some pictures of my customers Audi A2 3L model to my facebook pages. I have only given tips and inspiration and he has done the mods by himself. Execution quality is better than in my Lupo 2L project.

27 more pictures can be found https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3642791&type=3

At the moment car gets 2.5-2.6 l/100km @ 100 km/speed and tweaking will continue. Boattail is under though process and some parts for that have already been bought. Some racing will definetely happen between this Audi and my Lupo ;).

Very nice!

Can you explain the scoop on the aft edge of the hood/bonnet? Is that black area where the original vent/fresh air intake is?

Yes I think original fresh air intake was there. At the moment it sucks the air from left hole in front bumber through that small hose. its not flowing enough and need improvements.

Wow, it looks really nice.

Those are excellent skills displayed on his Aero mods. Nearly everything looks oem.

Nice. Thanks for posting here. Some people who've been around computers for a long time won't touch FaceSpook for any reason. You may have noticed the way encrypted email is being monkey-wrenched? That's to drive *more* people toward social media.

Rant off. I really like the continuity of the black stripe around the bottom.

What can you say about the fender skirts? I take it that they are flat and all the bubble is in the fender itself. Are they aftermarket or home-brewed?

I have sheet ABS to make a set, and I've seen some discussion of clamping arrangements, but I'm curious about the edge's contact with the fender. Is there a seal strip of any kind? Is it just a plain edge or is it flanged for more contact area?

TIA [meant as Thanks In Advance]

Before he goes all out on a full boat-tail, you might point him to that box cavity study we have linked to somewhere around here on E.M. ( which actually uses an Audi A2 as the test vehicle )

( I can't remember the title of the thread. Anyone else remember ?
)
It would be an easy mod to do when compared to a full boat-tail.

Also, I agree about the fit and finish looking OEM.

The box cavity had very minimal results. If I recall correctly, 2% or less.

What did he use for the wheelcovers?

mountainmike47 08-14-2013 10:45 PM

For the benefit of our American readers, I have done some calculations. 2.5 liters is equivalent to .66 gallons. 100km is equivalent to 62.5 miles. When you divide 62.5 by .66 the result is 94.7 miles per gallon. This is quite impressive. Nice job Vekke!
