Thanks for posting, too bad I didn't know they were around, I would have liked to read their articles. I suppose I still can.

Oh man I wonder what happened? I liked his articles about the Insights where he tried various drag-reduction schemes and even built a functional ram-air intake and tested it with a vacuum gauge proving that it worked.

Well, Autospeed is continuing, isn't it? Just without Julian Edgar. I'd hope they can find some alternative source of content, although he's a hard act to top; I've read his contributions for years now.

18 years is a long time to not have major life changes.

There used to be programs like Web Washer that would download entire websites. I wonder what's available today. With things like the ICANN shenanigans, the whole planet could be Balkanized.

Man... sad... AutoSpeed has always been one of my favorite websites. :(

Saw it coming, though. Julian hasn't had time to create much new content over the past few years.

He came on to Ecomodder to promote a book. I thought he didn't get a good reception here.

I just took a look at it, chose a feature at random, a dozen pages back, anout turbocharging for torque, without raising peak hp. It's impractical, unnecessary, and you can have it both ways at no extra cost. That's the main idea, you can double or even triple an engine's torque output from 1500 RPM to redline, which is impractical with a belt supercharger. On an LSx V8 that already makes over 300 ft-lbs from 1500 RPM to 6500+ RPM, that means 1100 HP is possible, and real world builds prove the theory.
And you are still gaining just as much midrange torque as you would if you tried what this article proposes. His ideas would not win any races, nor offers any mpg advantages, nor in the case of the LS does his plan offer any extra durability. It doesn't help emissions nor driveability to try it his way, either.
And if this is typical of the guy you are sad about, then good riddance.
