Y'all check this out... what I have had to deal with trying to help others.

So you want better fuel economy... - Page 5

Big Jizz is a douche!!!
I have been down this road on other forums a lot and I just don't post there anymore. It sucks because some folks are trying to learn from you and then you have someone like Big Jizz that just want to hear him self and not listen at all.

I also like the diesel rolling coal guy, hes very proud of himself that he can time just right when to roll black smoke in a driver side window.

I had my very first encounter this weekend with one of these diesel guys not liking the look of my new to me Insight. So he passed me and cut me off rolling the black smoke.

One of these days, the guy he does that to will pull alongside and put several well-timed rounds into his window :-)

Mizzfit is experiencing discomfort from cognitive dissonance; his belief system narrowly defines "fun" as driving as though racing against the clock and By Gawd every commute and errand had better be FUN. Racing against an mpg gauge does not compute and since Mizzfit's worldview only allows for his opinion, it is a threat. *Edit* For some reason I've got an earworm going of "Little Mizz Little Mizz Little Mizz Can't Be Wrong" LOL :p

Rolling Isht suffers Type A assshole disorder and probably micropenis syndrome as well. Isht probably wouldn't be so lash-out aggressive if both drivers were standing face-to-face so he gets his cowardly cheap thrill when safely confined in his cage.

The strange and funny thing is, much racing is all about passing and "gaining position". You'd think they'd love you for adding the challenge and giving them another opportunity to "win".

I regularly cruise at less than the going rate but I've never had "coal" rolled at me. It wouldn't matter since my windows are almost always up and I'm quick to flick the vents off should the need ever arise.

What both of those dickheads fail to realize is that the posted speed limits are legally an upper limit and even though law enforcement tolerates a bit of excess and most everyone exploits that, nobody is required to drive at or above the posted limit. And the vast majority of the time motorists are in passing zones so if they don't like someone's speed they are free to go around when it is safe to do so.

Oftentimes when this subject comes up there are many that express fear of being rear-ended (are they homophobes too? ). I find it odd that such self-centered folk are suddenly so concerned about this and also the possibility of inconveniencing others, especially since the onus for avoiding/preventing a rear-end collision is on the party approaching from the rear. And unless truck traffic is really heavy or a motorist has their head all the way up their arse, the motorist approaching from the rear has ample time to adjust speed, change lanes, or pass.

The other truth (and somebody alluded to it) is there is just no pleasing some people WRT your speed i.e. you can literally be going 30 mph over and some Kochsucker will see you up there and feel compelled to ride your bumper and/or pass. I've gotten over feeling obligated to accommodate such foolishness long, long ago; I'm certain they wouldn't volunteer to pay any speeding citation (P.S. or chip in for my gas, tires, brakes, and other wear and tear) I'd get so eff 'em.

I'd wager none of these Speedy Gonzalez' have ever mathed out the time difference for their trip at a fast speed vs an economical speed. Much of the time it is mere minutes difference, a difference that could easily evaporate or even favor the slow speed if traffic lights and such are involved.

I'll mention that I saw a few errors in the thread, one being that DWL is not holding steady throttle up and down hills and such:

Quote:

56) Drive with load (DWL)
AKA "target driving". Put most simply, this technique is accomplished by choosing a "target" rate of fuel consumption and ensuring you don't fall below it on hills (or in very strong winds, or any conditions which cause load to vary for a given speed).

In other words, you will back off the accelerator and lose speed (possibly also downshifting) as you climb, and gain that speed back on the descent.

It's far more efficient than pressing the accelerator more and more to maintain speed on the way up a hill and then releasing it down the other side.

DWL is how an efficiency minded person can greatly outperform cruise control in hilly terrain.

Obviously the ability to use this technique without adversely affecting other drivers depends on the traffic situation.

As well, fuel economy instrumentation is required to DWL/target drive to the maximum extent, though it can also be done using a vacuum gauge, and to a much lesser extent by the seat of the pants.

Team ZX2's mamas apparently forgot to teach their little Joe Dirts any internet manners!

You can't fix that kind of stupid, BabyDiesel, so don't let it get to you. It's been bred into them for generations. Just like the need to own pit bulls, double wides and F250's, to marry cousins, chew Skoal and build cable vision.

For all that tough talk, isn't a ZX2 a Ford Escort?

This is the part that has me baffled also. When reading through the thread you would think there driving sometime of Super car that has only 5th and 6th gear???

Daox 08-24-2015 11:25 AM

Funny thread. You handled yourself well BabyDiesel.

Aw, I was waiting for gotts2bme to post again. First he had a "220ish" mile commute, then "approx 270 miles a day," and "exactly 6 stop signs or less." How exactly does one's commute feature exactly 6 stop signs, but it might be fewer?

spacemanspif 08-24-2015 06:27 PM

Lol gotta love dealing with economy car people that think driving the POS is "an experience". Of course with all the money they spend on coil-overs, wings, body kits and stereos they think they actually have a super car. Big Jizz posted a pic of his dash that is clearly not an Escort dash, so why is he there anyway? Is he an "Escort elder"? What a high title, he must be so proud of his post count (probably rivals the number of stains in his sheets).

Keep on keeping on diesel, if you can block him, do that and add the note to your signature. I've seen people do it on yellowbullet.com and you can see how much better a thread would be with 1 person removed from the conversation lol. So people just don't get it and as said before there are certain cases of stupid that can't be cured so let those statements roll off your back and enjoy helping those that are actually interested in what you are doing.
