How do you build side mirror block off plates to avoid water leakage?

Well, I was sad that honda wussed out on making the stock block off plate...so now I have to make a custom one, but water is an issue. How do you water-proof yours?

I concur,
a bit of black silicone adhesive/sealer around the edge, and use your screws from the inside to hold it, should keep you watertight.
I prefer the adhesive/sealer for its glue like property as well as the sealing it provides.
For a few pennies less you can get silicone sealant, without the adhesive property.
My .02,
S.

SVOBoy -

I used the spongy taped back weather stripping that you get in hardware stores :

But, it's cheesy and is changing shape in the heat.

Like metroschultz says, the silicone sealers (rated for uber-heat?) are what I need to do in order to get it to look professional.

Filled in the holes left from cutting off the mirror with JB Weld, then sanded it smooth and painted.

Hey where did you get that?

cfg83,
Where did you get that tiny mirror?
I would like to get one and have seen them on a few cars here, but couldn't find out who made it or where it comes from.
Thank You, (in advance)
Schultz
