A beautiful car..

This thing looks a lot like what I had in my head of the perfect aerodynamic vehicle. I'd love to know the cd and mpg numbers. It's built on a 2006 Aveo platform. Can you imagine what a modern TDI could do with that body?

The front and sides look good (other than for that overly large grill on the nose), but the back end isn't boattailed and looks like it would develop a large low pressure wake behind it. What is the purpose of those large air scoops on top, other than to increase the frontal area and the Cd. If they are for engine cooling, they need to have an adjustable opening. Also with the window placements, it would have lots of blind spots and be a bear to drive in traffic.

Not to mention zero ground clearance...

I mentioned this car at the beginning of this thread: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ars-11732.html
Later on in the thread, there are much better and more practical cars.

That guy is pretty good at what he does, and the car looks good.

Unfortunately, I don't think the CdA will be as exotic as the car's appearance. It appears to have been designed to be exotic first and aerodynamic second. Note the enormous fake cooling ducts for the rear cargo area, and the fake hood vents.

I'm pretty sure you'd quickly come to hate that giant windshield. Foremost, because there are no wipers. Also because it makes the car a solar oven, and because the hood is so far forward that all you can service from it is the radiator. Need spark plugs or a valve cover gasket? Drop the motor.

Sorry guys, I didn't realize this had already been posted about. There is definitely room for improvement on the car, like those vents, but I think it looks like a great start. I'd much rather drive it than the any of the current offerings from Chevy, Toyota, Honda etc...

beautiful

Yeah,Neil had shared this one with us,and I think the consensus was that, while the execution was absolutely 1st-rate,she'd probably be a disappointment in the wind tunnel.
It looks very 'Hollywood.' Kinda like Minority Report.
One thing that could be said for it,is that if consumers could warm up to a form like this, they might even go for real aerodynamic efficiency.

A good first cut. Now make it a trike, tapering back from about the scoop to a center wheel (like Aptera), get rid of the stupid gull-wing doors, and move some of the front glass to sides and rear.

And I can't see how you're going to turn with those front wheel skirts.

the car has adjustable air suspension. the pics have the car lowered all the way down.

this car is wider than a diablo.. the wheels turn just fine inside the covers.

i know these things because i read the source.

jamesqf 01-31-2010 12:17 PM

The source SAYS they turn fine. I may or may not believe it, but if they do, I don't see how it's done. Unless the body is just so much wider than the track that there's room, and that hits CdA.

i agree, but by the looks of the rear scoops, it doesn't look like he's aiming for aero and CdA. i believe he mentions "unreal".
