You are focusing on the loft line (profile) and ignoring the wheelwells.

In turns the top of a tire doesn't move in/out as much as the middle of the wheel/tire. A uniform radius from the resting center of the wheel is sub-optimal.

that it's nose is nothing remarkable, although it does have a complete boat-tailed rear.

Or maybe it's a bluff nose with a low stagnation point, and a rear end that is too fast—intentionally, to improve cooling air intake—but too fast none-the-less. The narrowed front axle is good prep for front wheel skirts.

What a corrected Beetle body might look like.

aerohead -- So I try to get by with a rerun, and you throw out a whole bunch of new stuff. I think I'd seen only the last two before.

The first one is fun! For the Beetle, I get A-2 B-2 C-1 D-1 E-7 F-1 G-6 H-4. Is there a secret decoder key?

Frank Lee -- It's a setup. You want us to have to admit it's that first one. I'm going to go with:

It's all about the fineness ratio.

Frank Lee 04-16-2016 06:29 PM

Fineness ratio? I thought it was about fuselage length.
