Best LRR Tires
 

Just bought a set of KUMHO SOLUS TA31 for my 2008 Prius from Discount Tire Center.

I had Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 from Costco, they lasted about 5 years and I was pretty pleased with them.

As the Kumho's aren't LRR I'm curious to see if they have a big effect on my MPG.

While I'm in SoCal it has been pretty cool.

My lifetime MPG is 45

They didn't have the Kumho Eco Solus in stock and I don't think they make them in a size that fits the Prius.

Anyone have stellar returns on a LRR tire. Recommendations for future purchases?

I use the Michelin energy saver A/S. It's an expensive tire but worth it on an electric vehicle with limited range.

Oh and discount tire sucks. It appears they take advantage of people who don't know much about tires. They sell "Walmart tires" for excessive amounts of money. They never miss an opportunity to sell a new tire.
If I got a flat tire in front of their shop I would put my spare on and go anywhere but there.

Broadly speaking, I too find Michelin to be at the head of the pack for LRR tires if you're looking for something with good all-around stats. I go for Nokian for winter tires, probably not a factor for you. The Bridgestones that came on the 2000 Insight have some pretty amazingly low rolling resistance, but it was at the expense of the tire having a relatively short life, high noise, a rough ride, and relatively low wet and dry grip. Which was perfectly fine for me, I just took it easy when it was raining and enjoyed the excellent fuel economy.

I'm enjoying some good performance with a new set of Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 tires on my '15 Mazda3. Whether they're the best LRRs, I could not say.

Yeah, I have already noticed that my new Kuhmo tires are much quieter than my Ecopias. Will be interesting to compare what my mileage is once it warms up.

Wife and I had a baby so haven't been doing quite as much driving as we used to.

I put Ecopias on my saturn, 195/60/15? I thought they were great tires, even in several inches of snow. I havent bought tires for the Cruze Eco yet, and won't need to for a few years, so I have nothing to compared the Ecopias to.

I'm running 2 Kumho Solus TA11's on my Versa and the other 2 are tires that came on the car when I bought it used. I'm guessing I'll get another 10K or so out of them and plan to replace them with 2 more of same model Kumho. Thus far the TA11's have about 10K miles on them and are showing little if any wear. The TA11 is supposed to be a 75K mile tire. I used to run Kumho tires on the '88 Ford Escort I used to drive as a daily driver and as best as I remember they always performed well and lasted as long as they were supposed to mileage wise. Apparently the rolling resistance on the TA11 isn't too bad. In a years worth of driving I've averaged slightly over 47MPG since purchasing the car in Feb. 2019, highway EPA is 39MPG.

I just ordered Michelin Defenders for my mother's 2008 Prius. Only got two summers out of the Ecopias that were on it.
